pending plebiscite
[edit]There is a binding plebiscite vote in the works for November 2023. Not yet approved, but even the proposal is noteworthy for the history section. https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/us-lawmakers-urge-binding-vote-puerto-rico-statehood-84842296

In the date format, it should be noted that Puerto Rico uses mm/dd/yyyy in English but uses dd/mm/yyy in Spanish. TranquiRun (talk) 01:35, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Though the current information on date format is also unsourced; not sure if we should remove it entirely. This seems to be a common issue for date formats, as seen in List of date formats by country, presumably because date formats are so commonly used that no one actually bothers to formalise them in text. Immigration and emigration
[edit]I have removed the following sentence, which is obviously incorrect as written and not supported by the reference. It was possibly intended to refer to legal immigrants.
As of 2019, Puerto Rico was home to 100,000 permanent legal residents.

Commonwealth Status allows Puerto Rico to keep its culture while maintain a strong, quasi-state relationship with the United States. If the situation arises, Puerto Rico could vote for independence which is something that it could not do if it becomes a state Gabriellexmendez (talk) 15:41, 7 August 2024 (UTC)

[edit]3rd paragraph contains a typo, replace "Overseas" with "Oversees", sentence containing typo included below for ease of locating the error " as it is not a state, Puerto Rico does not have a vote in the U.S. Congress, which overseas it under the Puerto Rico Federal Relations Act of 1950. Congress approved a territorial constitution in 1952" 2600:1003:A810:2FF6:FC4F:F904:8ACE:AF9F (talk) 22:50, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

Newly added reference
[edit]I have recently added a reference for a claim in the history section and sub section U.S. era reference number 64. I am new, so i may have made a mistake. Please let me know if i did. Planelover26 (talk) 03:16, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Planelover26, thanks for helping to source the article! It's a helpful addition. To better refine, it would be best placed after "which made Puerto Ricans U.S. citizens,", as the source you added covers that part of the text, but not the constitution part. Best, CMD (talk) 03:26, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Chipmunkdavis Thank you for the advice, i have moved the placement of the reference. I can't find anything related to the constitution, so i will leave it un referenced for now. Please let me know if i made any more mistakes. Planelover26 (talk) 03:56, 16 February 2025 (UTC)

There is errors in this sentence:
"The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico has an area of 5,320 square miles (13,800 km2), of which 3,420 sq mi (8,900 km2) is land and 1,900 sq mi (4,900 km2) is water.[82] "
It should be (source the same [82]) :
"The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico has an area of 3515 square miles (9104 km2), of which 3459 sq mi (8959 km2) is land and 56 sq mi (145 km2) is water.[82]" Audraudra (talk) 22:37, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
